From Elsewhere: Spiked on the ongoing grooming scandals

If you click on one link today please click on this article by Rakib Eshan over at Spiked. This writer is correct, police are failing victims of these gangs whilst spending thousands upon thousands of pounds engaging in worthless virtue signalling and promoting divisive identity politics.

Dr Eshan said:

But while police forces may argue that time and resources are finite, members of the public could not be blamed for thinking that police are not exactly working in an efficient and considered manner. In recent times, the social-media accounts of police forces have flooded our timelines with bizarre virtue-signalling initiatives. Police forces across England have splashed thousands of pounds on Stonewall subscriptions. Then there is the over-policing of alleged Covid rule-breakers during the pandemic. Many members of the public will be thinking to themselves, ‘Don’t you have anything more important to do?’.

My view is the police do have far better things to do than police Twitter or engage in virtue signalling. The problem is they are not doing these better things.

Enforcing speed limits is a job that is definitely part of the work that the police are required to do. They do however seem to spend a lot of time with their speed gun in a village close to me where there has been a grand total of zero accidents. The road is arrow straight, there are no hazards, the footpaths are seperated from the road by a broad area of grass. Surely there are more dangerous places that they could patrol.
