Quote of the Day. 30th November 2021. Patronising Sadiq gets a knock back.

Greater London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan is a bit of a disaster. He’s presided over a massive rise in violent crime, has transport policies such as the ultra low emission zone that has crippled small businesses and sole traders, wastes untold amounts of money on personal vanity projects and has described and dismissed terrorism as something that is ‘part and parcel’ of living in a big city.

He’s also a grossly patronising bastard treating minorities as if they were ignorant children. But one minority businessperson has quite cleverly and publicly called Sadiq Khan out on his patronising attitude.

Nice one.

  1. It goes back to the standard that was applied once upon a time: “The best person for the job”. Unfortunately, this only applies in the “commercial” world because elsewhere (i.e. different flavours of government, education, charities hiring staff) can afford to live with quotas (aka “positive discrimination”)

Yes. I don’t care what race or religion or sex a professional is just as long as they are professional. I despise positive discrimination as it elevates less than ideal candidates on the grounds of race etc whilst tainting competent minority candidates with distrust as colleagues do not know whether this person has been promoted on merit or by other means. I believe it was Margaret Thatcher who said that promotion on merit is the best thing to do as the alternatives are far worse.
