Rebel Media journalist Tommy Robinson arrested

Update 2:  ( 17:40 GMT ) Tommy Robinson has been released on conditional bail until May 22nd.  See Rebel Media for more details

Update:  I have seen an update to this case put out by Rebel Media.  According to them Mr Robinson by asking questions outside the court of the defendants who are alleged to be part of an Islamic Rape Gang ring Mr Robinson did nothing different from what other journalists do or should do.  A journalist from Rebel Media is alleging that Mr Robinson was arrested at least partially on the instructions of senior officers from the Bedfordshire Force.  Please see the screen shot below for more details

Tommy Robinson one of the United Kingdom correspondents for the Canadian independent media outlet Rebel Media has been arrested by British police in connection with his journalistic activities at Canterbury Crown Court in Kent. Mr Robinson was arrested at his home at 04:30BST this mornign following his visit with a Rebel Media TV crew to Canterbury Crown Court where a number of alleged Muslim paedophiles and sex offenders are on trial.

At the time of writing, 06:40 GMT, there is no indication with what he has been charged with, but because of the location, which is the environs if not the precinct of the court, it could be anything. The charge could range from a public order one or breach of the peace charge, to something more esoteric, but equally likely, such as an assumed breach of the Contempt of Court Act because of his reporting.

Whatever the reason this looks very much like another ‘harassment arrest’ which Tommy Robinson has been subjected to many times. On several occasions Tommy has been arrested on some bullshit charge that is later dropped in order to prevent him speaking at a particular meeting or attend a particular demonstration. I suspect that there is a likelihood that this could be the case this time as Tommy Robinson was due to speak at the ‘Justice For Chelsey’ rally in the North East of England. The ‘Chelsey’ case is one that that Northumbria Police are desperate for people to stop talking about as it shows the local force up in a very bad light. The case also exposes to wider public view, the problem of Islamic Rape Gangs and other Islamic sex crime in the area. Chelsey, for those who don’t know is a young mum who alleged that she was raped by a gang of Muslim ‘refugees’. The police mishandled the investigation and the Crown Prosecution Service refused to proceed with charges against the alleged rapists.

Like I said no indication of charges as yet but the arrest itself is yet more evidence to show that the UK police are not policing impartially. Scores of Muslim crimes, including serious ones, are being pushed under the carpet often by police who want an easy life or who don’t want the hassle of being called ‘racist’ by some aggrieved Islamic. Stuff like Female Genital Mutilation is not being investigated or prosecuted by either the police or the CPS yet astoundingly the police can send a squad of officers to investigate and arrest a journalist. Can you imagine any other journalist treated this way? If it was a Contempt of Court Act breach any other writer would probably have been sent a police interview letter and would not be dragged out of their bed at 04:30 in the morning

There may be an announcement on Tommy Robinson’s social media pages about the charge and his facebook page link is pasted below

Another disgraceful and seemingly unwarranted arrest by overtly politicised and Islamopandering police officers.

Seems like the police and the CPS are trying to keep the Canterbury Islamic Rape Gang case low profile hence the warning to Tommy by the police not to cover the trial

  1. Can the Police be issued a Restraining Order, or a Harassment Charge? If they’re allowed to make groundless arrests without charges, how do they expect Mr. Robinson to maintain employment as a Journalist?

  2. Having watched the clips, it does indeed seem that this is more “harrassment” from the police. However, it’s probably best for Tommy not to label people before the actual verdict. As you clearly state, the defendants are “alleged Muslim paedophiles.” Tommy needs to be more careful in his statements when reporting on court proceedings, and perhaps The Rebel should advise him on this. He’s not much use to us or The Rebel if he’s banged up again.

Outrageous. ALL reporters report from outside the courthouse, how the hell are they going to make that stick? I think we all have to realize that things are very much worse than we even thought.

  4. These are excuses , man get’s arrested for just filming criminals. While somewhere else man get’s protected for raping a GIRL.

Even if he broke some code of conduct , the breach isn’t a major crime.
It’s no reason to pick him up 4 o’clock in the morning like a terrorist. it’s gorilla tactics and harassment.

Agree it’s harassment. When I did court reporting I made a COCA error and was politely invited to address the judge to explain myself I didn’t get my door knocked on at 04:30 in the morning as happened to Mr Robinson.

This is ridiculous. He has been railroaded every step of the way with every arrest. The Islamic influence in England is evident in all of this. Parliament, the House of lords, and the royal family should be ashamed of the state of how citizens are treated in their nation… or is the queen going to start wearing a hijab?

In the UK there are strict rules about reporting pre-trial.

From the BBC ‘Contempt and reporting restrictions’
“You can also commit a contempt of court by, for example, interviewing a witness before a trial or even by putting pressure on them to provide an interview after the trial.”

It would appear Tommy might have breached those conditions.

Tommy is many things but he’s not a journalist.
There is much to be angry about regarding Tommy Robinson’s treatment by the British state and its response to the surrounding issues but this isn’t one of them.

Hello and Welcome to Fahrenheit 211. As someone who has done reporting in courts myself I am well aware of the restrictions and these restrictions have toughened up in recent years something that may have something to do with newspapers contacting witnesses in the Fred West case which caused a great scandal at the time.

When I heard that Mr Robinson had been arrested I suspected that this may have a basis in the Contempt of Court Act or some breach of the precincts of the court and I may well be correct on this. Although Mr Robinson may well have breached conditions related to reporting of trials I can understand his frustration with how these Islamic rape gang cases are being reported, or in some cases not being reported by the national media. This frustration may have boiled over into making reporting procedure errors. As regards his arrest, I on one occasion made a COCA error outside a court and all that happened to me was I got called into the witness box in front of the judge (whilst the Jury was not present of course) and was informed what I had done was wrong. I then apologised to the court (I admit hands up I was wrong) and was much more careful in future. I didn’t, as Mr Robinson has had happen, get a police visit at 04:30. I do wonder how the ourts and the police would have treated another reporter in the same way they treated Mr Robinson.

As regards the question ‘who is a journalist’ then it’s a different question today than if it had been asked 40 years ago. Then a journalist was someone who worked for a publication that produced news or for a news agency. Now it is anybody who reports news whether they work for a publication or not. I happen to believe that Mr Robinson is a journalist because he undertakes journalistic endeavours. It would be interesting to know if now he’s being published by Rebel Media whether he is entitled to NUJ membership or would he be considered as persona non grata among the leftists who now lead that union? It’s the leftists who put me off rejoining the NUJ. Mr Robinson may have made an error in his reporting but who hasn’t?

I think that it’s right to be angry about the way Mr Robinson has been treated over this because I believe that the way Mr Robinson has been treated is far more harsh than how others may have been treated.

  7. Rebel media, contact me when you get the chance. I had just a small taste of what Tommy went through, police, security services, my wife and child harassed, release of my home address(which the police took great joy in) and three days in a police cell with an open fracture….which the police kindly gave me.
